I’m an AI researcher based in San Francisco, California. I’ve spent the last 10+ years building technical systems for forecasting, measurement, and decision-making under uncertainty.
I work on quantifying AI risk at the Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company. Our mission is to underwrite superintelligence; to that end, we develop standards for AI systems, perform audits and evals against those standards, and quantify that risk robustly enough to create an insurance market. Before AIUC, I worked at OpenAI, where I was the first technical hire on the strategic finance team. Among other things, I built the forecasting system for ChatGPT usage and revenue, which backed many billions of dollars in fundraising and CapEx. Before that, I worked as a software engineer on NASA ADS, a data scientist at Airbnb and Ledger, and an actuary at Allianz.
